Preparing for the arrival of baby

Excitement is mounting, and the to-do list can sometimes seem endless. To help you navigate these final moments with peace of mind, we've prepared this guide with 9 things to do before giving birth. The goal? To allow you to focus on what's important: welcoming your baby.

1. Organize the house and equipment

For a smooth start to the maternity ward, make sure all the essentials are ready and assembled. The essentials: a properly installed car seat and a safe place for baby to sleep. Take advantage of your nesting instinct to decorate the room! This is also a good time to start thinking about how to baby-proof the house once they start exploring.

2. Prepare meals

Sleep will probably be the most precious thing you'll ever need after birth. To avoid the mealtime headache, a great tip is to prepare and freeze meals in advance. You can simply double your favorite recipes to always have a healthy and delicious option on hand, without having to think about it.

3. Stock up on supplies

The last thing you want is to run out of essentials! Before the big day, stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and personal care products. Consider subscribing to regular delivery services to automate this task and ensure you always have what you need.

4. Think about family, including pets

If you have pets, make sure everything is ready for their care during your stay in the maternity ward. Pack a supply of food and toys, and ask friends and family to walk them or spend time with them. Also, don't forget to schedule a checkup with the dentist or eye doctor, if needed.

5. Enjoy your free time

This is a unique time. Take some time for yourself, alone or as a couple, to recharge your batteries. If you have the opportunity, a babymoon (a vacation before the baby arrives) is a great idea. If not, a quiet weekend at home or a simple outing to a restaurant can do wonders. These quiet moments are precious.

6. Finalize the last details

  • The maternity suitcase. Make sure you have your suitcase ready to go, with everything you need for you and your baby.

  • The announcement. If you're planning to send a birth announcement, choose the template in advance. This will take the stress out of the first few weeks with your newborn!
